5 Truths Therapists in Hershey Wish You Knew
/5 Truths Therapists Wish You Knew
Hershey is known for being the “Sweetest Place on Earth”, yet at the moment, you may be feeling far from “sweet”.
You’re supposed to be strong, capable, having a “perfect life”. But, this time you can’t do it on your own. You realize you need help from an experienced therapist or counselor near you.
For the years I’ve been helping people, there are certain things (aka “truths”) that I wish clients knew.
5 Truths Counselors Wish You Knew
I don’t think you’re crazy.
I think that this is one of the most frequent things I hear. Clients have often said to me, “you must think I’m crazy?” after they’ve shared something with me.
Here’s the truth.
I don’t. Really, I don’t. I think it’s admirable that you had the strength to take the risk to reach out to me to help you through this tough time.
You definitely aren’t the only one.
My clients often think like they are the only ones who struggle with certain things. This couldn’t be further from the truth. Relief from anxiety symptoms is one the most common reasons people seek out therapy or counseling services in the United States.
It’s ok to not be ok.
We all need help sometimes. Sometimes the one who provides that help needs to be a professional.
Plus, it would be weird if everyone were happy and smiling all the time.
No, you aren’t doomed.
Even in what feels like the worst-case scenario, things won’t always feel this awful. You do have the ability to make meaningful, positive changes to your life.
You don’t have to be seriously mentally ill.
Everyone can benefit from counseling. Not everyone who pursues therapy has some deep-rooted, psychological issue. Sometimes, people just need some assistance getting through a current stressful situation. Sometimes, people want to learn more about themselves and to improve their life.
